THE SPORTS PERFORMANCE CENTER

The Sports Performance Center, the first step toward the stadium of the future, is officially under construction. The Jaguars and the City of Jacksonville broke ground in January right after the conclusion of the 2021 season and already old field lights and bleachers have disappeared. Permitting is complete for foundations for new outdoor bleachers with retail shops below, as well as the indoor practice facility. The facility remains on target to open ahead of the 2023 season.

JAGUARS SUPPORT CONSTRUCTION JOB TRAINING

This month, the Jaguars announced a $100,000 commitment to help fund the expansion of Construction Ready in the state of Florida. The nonprofit plans to offer Jacksonville residents four free 20-day construction education programs that end with training, credentialing, and job placement. Many of the graduates will have an opportunity to work on the Sports Performance Center and Shipyards in addition to other development projects in the region. Read more about it in the Florida Times-Union – Jaguars and Georgia-based nonprofit bringing free construction classes to Jacksonville.

The first class will begin mid-March.  For more information on future classes or to register, applicants should visit constructionready.org.
