While it’s still something of a long fuse, the end of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ time in TIAA Bank Field as currently configured is drawing to a close.
The Jacksonville City Council on Friday held its first meeting on the Shipyards project.
The push for City Council approval of a Four Seasons hotel development deal along Jacksonville’s downtown riverfront opened Friday to a small audience as supporters worked to get state backing too.
“I think we’ll look back and say, you know, doing that development with the right mix and balance of development with public parks — which is what the plan delivers,” said Lamping.
On Tuesday evening, after more than a year in the making, Jacksonville City councilmembers will hear a proposal for the Shipyards along the St. Johns River, which includes building a new luxury hotel. The plan now hinges on their approval.
The Jacksonville City Council is expected to introduce legislation Sept. 14 for a nearly $114 million incentives deal with Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan for his plan to build a Four Seasons Hotel and Residences and an office building at the former Kids Kampus...
