On Tuesday evening, Jacksonville City Council approved the legislation for the Sports Performance Center. This news represents an important victory for downtown growth, and it helps set the stage for the Stadium of the Future!

What Happens Next
The Jaguars have been working diligently on the Sports Performance Center for many months to ensure that if we were to receive approval, we’re ready to get to work. We expect construction will commence as soon as the 2021 NFL season concludes in early 2022 with a goal to open in advance of the Jaguars’ 2023 season.
Meanwhile, our vision for the Jacksonville Shipyards is still making steady progress after receiving unanimous approval from the Downtown Investment Authority in July. Legislation for that proposal is expected to be introduced to the City Council in mid-September. Stay tuned to 1st DownTown Jacksonville social channels for updates!
